How to get from the Dolomites to Isola by bus

To get from the Dolomites to Izola by bus, you first need to travel to a major transport hub, such as Bolzano or Trento (1-2 hours from most resorts). From there, take a flight to Trieste (3-4 hours). In Trieste, transfer to a bus to Izola (approximately 50-60 minutes). Taking into account waiting times and transfers, the total travel time is 8-11 hours. Cons: all information is in Italian, creating a language barrier for foreigners. Buses have extremely limited space for sports equipment: it’s practically impossible to fit skis, snowboards, or bicycles. During the off-season, some routes are cancelled, and the intervals between buses can reach 4-5 hours, especially on weekdays.

How to get from the Dolomites to Isola by train

You can get to Izola by train, although there is no direct connection from the Dolomites. First, take a bus to Bolzano (1–2 hours from the resort). From there, a train to Udine takes 2.5–3 hours. In Udine, you need to transfer to a bus to Trieste (approximately 1.5 hours), and then take a train to Izola (another 50–60 minutes). The entire route, including transfers and waiting, takes 9–12 hours.
