Transfer from Milan to the Dolomites

The train is an attempt to find a happy medium between price and convenience on a 250-350 km route. The journey takes approximately 3.5-5 hours, including transfers. Typically, you first travel to Trento or Verona, and from there transfer to a regional train to the desired station at the foot of the Alps. Advantages include soft seats, the opportunity to walk around the carriage if you’re stuck, and designated luggage areas. Train stations in major cities are well-equipped: you won’t have to spend a long time searching for an exit or information desk, and staff are usually ready to help with directions. However, there are pitfalls: Italian trains, unfortunately, don’t always arrive on schedule. Delays due to technical or weather conditions are common, and if you choose a connecting train, you risk missing the next train. This is especially true in winter, when snow can disrupt service, or during holidays when there are many tourists: it’s best to book tickets in advance, otherwise you might be left without a seat. Furthermore, not all trains have spacious luggage compartments, so carrying large items (skis, snowboards, bicycles, etc.) can be difficult—you’ll need to make arrangements with the conductor in advance.
