Getting from Ljubljana to Lake Garda by bus requires at least two transfers. First, take a bus to Udine, Italy (around 3 hours). From there, continue to Verona (another 2–2.5 hours). From Verona, take a local bus or shuttle to your chosen lake resort (30–60 minutes). Taking into account waiting times and transfers, the total travel time is 7–9 hours. Cons: schedules are published in Italian, creating a language barrier; there’s limited space for sports equipment—skis, bicycles, or large suitcases can be awkward. During the off-season, some buses are cancelled, and the intervals between buses reach 2–3 hours.

Lake Garda can be reached by train, although there is no direct connection from Ljubljana. First, take a bus to Tarvisio or Udine (2.5–3.5 hours).
