The road leads northwest through Kranj, then along the Sava River into the Julian Alps. The final stretch from Boginska Bistrica to the lake is one of the most beautiful in Slovenia: the mountain valley gradually narrows, the river becomes clearer, and around the next bend, Bohinj opens up. The driver speaks Russian, knows the route well, and will take summer traffic in the Bled area into account—if necessary, he will take a detour to avoid wasting time in traffic.
