Koper is the business and port center of the Slovenian coast, but within its medieval core, with its Venetian facades, it can be unexpectedly quiet and beautiful. Bohinj is the complete opposite: a lake hidden in the Triglav National Park, unreachable by tourist buses and where the mountains are reflected in the water with eerie clarity. Between them are 185 kilometers of Slovenian roads, the route does not cross any borders, and our Koper-Bohinj transfer will take you from one coast to the other—the Adriatic to the Alpine—in about two hours.
The road heads north through the karst plateau with its famous caves and castles, then skirts or passes through Ljubljana, and the final stretch leads deep into the Julian Alps. This final stretch through Boginska Bistrica to the lake is one of the most beautiful in the country: a mountain valley, a clear river, and a gradually deepening alpine landscape. The driver speaks Russian and is happy to make stops along the way, for example, at Postojna Cave or Predjama Castle.
